National Housing Endowment/International Builders Show Scholarship Program
Building upon the proud history of NAHB’s wide range of support for construction education, the National Housing Endowment, Home Builders Institute (HBI), and state and local Home Builders Associations (HBAs) continue to find avenues to educate students on the many opportunities a career in construction offers. Attending the International Builders’ Show (IBS) has proven to be instrumental in helping students learn outside the classroom and prepare for a career in the home building industry.
The National Housing Endowment International Builders’ Show Scholarship provides monetary support to NAHB Student Chapter members to help offset travel expenses related to attendance and participation in activities surrounding the annual International Builders’ Show.
The deadline for 2008 submissions is
October 31, 2008!

The National Housing Endowment/Lee S. Evans
Scholarship
Lee S. Evans and
his wife, Virginia, established the Lee S. Evans/National Housing
Endowment Scholarship in 1990. Evans, an educator and consultant, has
taught thousands of builders how to better manage their businesses. The
Evans' endowed gift, along with the generous contributions of many of
Mr. Evan's friends, colleagues and former students, created the
scholarship fund to assist in addressing the pressing need for educating
and training construction managers in the residential building industry.
The Evan's vision to establish a permanent source of scholarship funding
to assist promising students entering the field of residential
construction management has helped students nationwide achieve their
career goals.
The scholarship deadline for the 2009-2010 academic year
is December 1, 2008.
The
National Housing Endowment/Herman J. Smith Scholarship was
created to honor Herman J. Smith and his lifelong commitment
to the housing industry and the education of future
generations of home builders.

surrounding areas held numerous leadership positions in
state and local home builder associations and as President
of the National Association of Home Builders during his long
career. He was inducted into the National Association of
Home Builders' Housing Hall of Fame in 1987. His
philanthropic contributions throughout the years benefited
his church, his community, his industry, and his peers. His
dedicated leadership and his exemplary life will remain as
an inspiration to all those lives he touched during his
lifetime. In keeping with his favorite motto, "always leave
the woodpile higher than you found it," this scholarship
fund commemorates an outstanding Texas and housing icon,
Herman J. Smith.
