The National Housing Endowment

Our Mission

The National Housing Endowment will help the industry develop more effective approaches to home building, enhance the ways we educate and train future generations of leaders in residential construction and increase the body of knowledge on housing issues.  We will do so by supporting innovative and effective programs that further Education, Training, and Research.

The National Housing Endowment:

Supports programs which address ongoing needs in the housing community and invests in housing by focusing on forces that can shape a better future - education, job training, research, and projects that perpetuate the contributions home builders make to the American way of life.

Channels much of its support to expand on the demonstrated success of NAHB affiliate programs - the Scholarship Fund, Home Builders Institute and NAHB National Research Center - and to fortify the relationship between the housing industry and institutions of higher learning.

Looks ahead to identifying future housing needs and responding to changing priorities. The Endowment enables steady progress in projects that can reduce the cost and improve the quality of housing, provide skilled laborers and talented managers, and elevate housing to an enduring national priority.

Is guided by a prestigious Board of Trustees representing various areas of the industry who provide a broad perspective on the diverse needs of the housing community.

Is an important national vehicle for addressing industry concerns, and has awarded more than 1,200 grants totaling more than $6 million in support of housing related projects nationwide.

Attracts the financial support and leadership of prominent members of the building community and has passed the $20 million mark in contributions and pledges.

Has more than 50 "Founding Advocates", an elite group of individuals and organizations who have pledged six-figure gifts in support of the Endowment's mission. In addition, 16 individuals and corporations have pledged gifts of over $1 million.
